Hybrid Project Management with Mobile Time Recording
| Translated by Julian Hammer
New Digital Time Sheet for any Deployment Location
In the new version of its project management software, PLANTA complements its product portfolio with a web-based time recording option. The new digital time sheet provides users with a means to post their project times and hours worked quickly and easily from any deployment location, also in a mobile fashion via smart phone or tablet, or from your desktop computer at your (home) office. The data is directly transmitted live to the planning system. In offline mode, the data is saved until the user reconnects to the system.
Increasing Demand for Recording of Hours Worked
With PLANTA’s new time recording, increased requirements for the documentation of hours worked can be implemented. In times of new work, home office, and dispersed teams, the demand for recording of hours worked increases, especially on part of employees. In the face of the flexibilization of working time and location, many employees desire a clear division between professional and private life. The ECJ’s ruling of 14 May 2019, requires employers to document hours worked of their employees. However, this is only done by approx. half of all companies. „Full time recording is particularly employed in medium-size companies (100 to 500 employees). Here, employees are most frequently very or even completely satisfied (56,3 percent) with the current way in which their hours worked are recorded.“ Source: personalwirtschaft.de
Strong arguments for time recording:
- Demand for flexibility, legal grounds
- Finances and monitoring
- Resource and capacity planning
- Prevention of self-exploitation and overloading

Extended project time recording
The new time recording constitutes a functional extension of hybrid use and is available to users of PLANTA project and PLANTA pulse in the integrated hybrid system. Depending on the company’s planning process, hybrid planning can be used in a variety of ways. Via PLANTA pulse, it is possible, a.o., to post directly to planning objects in PLANTA project. Or project teams plan and record hours worked directly on cards in the Kanban board. Planners and employees can each record their hours in the very same place where they carry out their task planning.
In the digital time sheet, users can intuitively record their hours for multiple tasks and projects and allocate them. For possibly required reverse postings, recording rules are automatically handled by the system without manual action being required on the part of the user. The hours recorded on each day are shown in a clear structured manner below the scale along with the summarized weekly values.
Even if PLANTA pulse is used in standalone mode as an agile planning tool without hybrid connection to PLANTA project, hours worked can be recorded on the spot via a convenient dialog box. The user can have all recorded hours displayed in a convenient overview where they can also be edited if necessary.
Benefits of PLANTA’s new time recording:
- Recording of hours worked in line with legal requirements with just a few clicks even when on the move
- Overview of hours worked
- Analysis of hours recorded in a decentralized manner when connected to the hybrid system
- Creation of reports on project status and resource utilization at the click of a button
- Display of the presence times with traffic light function representing whether the hours worked exceed the hours of presence or fall below them
- Quick access to planning objects and time recording favorites
