The 18th PLANTA User Forum took place on 4–5 June 2019 at Novotel Karlsruhe. This year’s program was filled with an abundance of current topics. This year, the focus was on hybrid project management and the new corporate design, which was presented exclusively to PLANTA customers. In addition, a range of PM subjects of general importance were addressed.
PLANTA informs about the extensions made to the PLANTA software since the last user forum. In a road map, the planning for the next quarters with regard to products and strategy was presented.
In a quite interesting key note, Johannes Felchlin, Helvetia Versicherungen Basel, elaborated on the topic of value creation through agile project portfolio management. He furthermore pointed out the success factors and challenges for effective and efficient agile, but yet hybrid, project portfolio management.
In his presentation Representation of the development process with Quality Gates in PLANTA project, Dr. Holger Schwenk, Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co. KG quite informatively explained that with the help of the process models in PLANTA and numerous adjustments, both the entire innovation process from an idea to the finished product or process and the different project types can be represented as a whole.
The vivid presentation by Sabine Ulli, AXA Versicherungen, From here to now: through the Vuca world with PLANTA showed us how creativity, quickness, and flexibility are possible in the world of planning. Agile games rounded up the agile experience at the PLANTA User Forum in a quite entertaining but nonetheless educational way.
In his demonstrative presentation Changeover to 39 – Departure to a new world, Rolf Jungnischke, Signal Iduna Gruppe, introduced us to the particular challenges of a release change in the course of which a system, which had been employed for 13 years, was readjusted.
In their presentation On the way to paperless project management – Process models in PLANTA 39, Patric Geßner & Heiko Troff, LTI Motion GmbH informed us about their update to version 39.5 enabled them to facilitate diverse elaborate processes and to eventually save time and paper by means of process minimization as well as with the help of interfaces to the ERP world.
In PLANTA presentations with a workshop character, participants were illustratively informed on the following topics:
— Hybrid project management with PLANTA project and PLANTA pulse
— Continuous planning across three levels: From strategic portfolio planning to team collaboration.
— PLANTA pulse as a collaboration tool: practical example + tips & tricks for planning in teams
— Automatic recognition and application of individual adjustments to the new Standard
— New design – introduction of the new design as of DB12 and of the option to automatically adjust individual developments
In the course of the cultural accompanying program we got to know the state wineyard of Durlach with its peculiar site and learned that the Turmberg wineyard is the only area in Germany which belongs to wine-growing zone B. Under magnificent sunshine, the participants visited the wineyards in two groups and had the chance to taste this special wine from Karlsruhe. The extensive production in the steep fields with their terraces at the Turmberg results in low yields so that the long-term share of special quality wine is at 90 percent.
Once again, participants of the user forum could sense a special atmosphere. The particular PLANTA spirit could be scented in the pleasant encounters the ambitious PLANTA team was able to experience with the customers — of which some have been attending the PLANTA User Forum for many years.
