22nd PLANTA User Forum: When Project Management Takes New Paths
| Translated by Julian Hammer
Two Days, Countless Impulses
Digitalization and Misconceptions – Impulses That Set Things in Motion
This year’s keynotes offered both a broad and in-depth perspective on today’s project management challenges: On the first day, the focus was on digital transformation with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Rupp from the FOM University of Applied Sciences in Economics & Management – covering topics such as AI, big data, real-time control, and the evolving role of project managers as a digital navigators. On the second day, the focus was shifted to the human factor. Drawing on philosophical thinking models and real business examples, Mr. Zaeri Esfahani from parsQube GmbH demonstrated how our approach to mistakes influences project success and how crucial an open, learning-oriented project culture is.
Both talks provided valuable insights – for strategic direction as well as for personal perspectives on project work.
Sharing Knowledge, Expanding Horizons – Practice-Based Presentations
Beyond the keynotes, the User Forum once again offered plenty of input for participants from all industries, providing diverse insights into current challenges and smart practical solutions:
Prof. Dr. Kinkel from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and coordinator of the KARL competence center for artificial intelligence in the Karlsruhe region showcased how fair and transparent AI-based staff scheduling in production can be successful. Mrs. Plischke from Stadtwerke Rostock presented her pilot project on IT capacity planning with PLANTA – from strategy to implementation. A joint presentation by Theresa Leite and Benjamin Müller from Julius Blum demonstrated how a comprehensive update following the greenfield approach brought the company’s PM system back closer to the standard. Mr. Trafelet from Siegfried AG reported on the successful harmonization of project management during software implementation in the company.
These contributions were complemented by internal presentations including live demos by the PLANTA team: numerous new features were introduced, as well as developments in AI integration, the practical use of hybrid PM methods, and the new container-based organization of PLANTA software.
Participants took the opportunity to exchange best practices, learn about new software features, and explore current project trends. The breaks presented a welcome opportunity for discussions – and many participants found new inspiration for their day-to-day work.
At the same time, attendees had the chance to extensively test the new software versions at demo counters and clarify their questions directly with PLANTA staff.
Industrial Heritage Meets Innovation – Guided Tour of the “Alter Schlachthof”
The evening took a historical turn – and was surprisingly modern at the same time: Together, we visited the “Alter Schlachthof Karlsruhe”, a former industrial complex that is now taking new directions as a creative hub.
The tour that took place in Karlsruhe’s characteristic summer temperatures, offered fascinating insights into the site’s history while also showcasing how spaces and working environments are transforming – a perfect metaphor for the transformation that project management is currently undergoing.
Good Food, Greater Conversations – Networking over Dinner and Cocktails
The evening continued with culinary delights: During the joint dinner at the Novotel, new contacts were established, and the day’s discussions deepened.
At Santo’s cocktail bar, participants enjoyed their evening in a relaxed atmosphere with refreshing cocktails. It was a pleasant way to round off the day with good vibes and the opportunity to make new acquaintances and reconnect with familiar faces.
Conclusion: Change Begins with Dialogue
The 2025 User Forum once again showed: Project management is changing – and this transformation can only succeed as a joint venture.
Whether through technological innovation, methodological advancement, or more tolerance for making mistakes – participants left with up-to-date knowledge and many practical impulses for their project work.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all speakers, guests, and partners for their valuable contributions and are already looking forward to the next PLANTA User Forum on May 6 and 7, 2026!
